The Iowa DNR is requiring the upgrades be completed by 2032 and Mayor Bobby Schwickerath says they want to apply for a sewer revenue loan to help get the ball rolling.

After rescinding a resolution passed in March that would pay Jeremy McGrath $15,000 a year to house Chickasaw Ambulance Services ambulances in a building McGrath and his wife own in New Hampton, the Ambulance Council voted 4-1 to accept an offer from New Hampton to rent a part of the Police Department’s for the same $15,000 price.

The unanimous vote came after a lengthy and, at times, contentious discussion during a meeting last Monday evening that was marked by several heated exchanges and city officials expressing frustration with county officials, especially Supervisor Jake Hackman. But Monday’s vote to table paying the Ambulance Council $7,295.70 New Hampton’s share of the $25,000 seed money the new council was supposed to use to generate requests for proposals (RFPs) by hiring an attorney or consultant raises a number of questions.
