We are watching helicopters and airplanes dropping fire retardant. This is about woodside, near wonderlecht park. This is a number of fires that started during last nights lightning storms. Firefighters are battling these flames with an aggressive air attack. Water dropping helicopters and planes have been called in to control the fire which is burning through rugged terrain off highway 35 near Kings Mountain road in the woodside area. Cal fire says this was one of seven wildfires. Likely caused by lightning. Four of them have already been brought end control. The National Weather service says that there were at least 1200 cloudtoground Lightning Strikes around the bay area last night as powerful thunderstorms moved into the region. Screaming. Before we begin, i want to express our support for and thoughts and prayers for all the victims of the recent hushrricas and most recently in florida and our colleague in the Ranking Member on this committee, senator nelson. He and senator rubio are there today as they should be, and looking out for the needs of their constituents and so again, we certainly want to express our support, prayers for them and for the people of florida as they deal with a horrific storm and its aftermath. The next pandemic. Hope early hopefully its not the next pandemic right here. I would suggest that the Natural History museum is the best placed at the meeting like this. This museum is the largest Natural Museum and has 145 objects. I say that objects whatever but the reality is collecting the Natural World for the last frontiers in preserving preserving those objects in museums and this is the place where we have what we know about planet earth so the records have collect and over the years brizard by research scientists. Last year over 400 were described by scientists working the building. At the same time we welcome 6 million visitors.
