The morning of july 16, 1969, Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and buzz aldrin lifted ff from nasas cape kennedy. That day, millions watched in 11 s nasa launched Apollo Saturn 9 rocket to accomplish the goals set by president kennedy less than 10 years earlier, to land the man on the moon before the end of the decade. As president kennedy said in his speech at Rice University in september, 1962, we choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things not because they are easy but because they are hard. There is no better explanation that captures the american spirit. We choose to take joint leaps. We choose to know the unknown. We choose to lead into the future.
