The Arunachal Pradesh state government in India has approved the transfer of the 2,000 MW Subansiri Upper Hydro project and 1,800 MW Kamala project to National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) from private developers. The Subansiri Upper project is situated in the Upper Subansiri district of the state on the Subansiri river, while the Kamala Project is in Kamle district on the Kamala river.
The Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Chowna Mein stated in a significant development, several large hydropower projects in Arunachal Pradesh, which previously witnessed unsatisfactory progress under private developers are now being transferred to central public sector undertakings (CPSUs) operating in the hydropower sector. This conscious effort, initiated by the State government, aims to ensure the successful development of these projects.
