Move to develop Customs Bonded Warehouses in Oman

MUSCAT, SEPT 16 - Promising headway is being made in preparing the groundwork for the growth of Customs Bonded Warehouses at key locations around the Sultanate a move that could potentially add RO 100 million annually to the Gross Domestic Product when it is a reality tentatively by the year 2020. The initiative is being spearheaded by Tanfeedh the National Programme for Enhancing Economic Diversification with the support of a number of stakeholders, notably the Royal Oman Police Customs, Ministry of Transport and Communications, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Oman Global Logistics Group (ASYAD), Second and Third Party Logistics firms, and shipping and freight forwarding agencies.

Muscat: Three of the National Bank of Oman’s (NBO) staff members have been selected to participate in Etimad, a national leadership programme to upskill and empower Omanis for middle and senior management positions.
Emerging from the recommendations of the Labour Market and Employment Lab at the National Programme for Enhancing Economic Diversification, Tanfeedh , the programme aims to train a total of 10,000 Omanis through a series of six-month sessions.
Three promising individuals from the bank’s IT, brand division and investment banking departments were chosen for the latest batch, part of NBO’s commitment to cultivating a nurturing work environment that provides its employees with the opportunity to grow in their respective careers.
OER summit to focus on opportunities and challenges facing manufacturing sector in Oman

Muscat: OER’s Manufacturing Summit to be held on March 24 will train the spotlight on the opportunities and challenges facing the manufacturing sector in Oman.
It will do a deep dive into unlocking the potential of the sector, creating job opportunities and negotiating new found challenges i.e. logistical disruption, shrinking international export markets and enhanced global and regional protectionist policies. OER’s first of its kind manufacturing summit will bring in government officials, C-suite executives, consultants and analysts to discuss a cross-section of issues impacting the manufacturing sector in Oman, possible solutions and the way ahead.
