Stronger Families, Stronger Communities – Let’s celebrate Families Week
It’s National Families Week this week 15-21 May and we are celebrating all things families.
In Bayside, households with children make up 36.9 per cent of our residents. During Families Week, we are promoting the range of services we provide for our local families, including maternal and child health, Immunisations, library services, gallery and much more. We also provide information and support to families to connect with occasional care, access to kindergartens, playgroups, playhouses and day care.
Council offers a range of open spaces for families to enjoy, including playgrounds, parks and sportsgrounds.
National Families Week in May Celebrates Family Life in All of Its Diversity
National Families Week coincides with the UN International Day of Families this year, celebrating stronger families and stronger communities.
Australia’s biggest celebration of families in all their diversity is set to take place this month – National Families Week runs between May 15-21.
Coinciding with the UN International Day of Families on May 15, the theme of this year’s celebration will be “stronger families, stronger communities”.
Families Australia CEO Dr Brian Babington told Hope 1032 that the theme “highlights the important role families play as the central building block of our communities and delivers the message that community wellbeing is enhanced by family wellbeing”.

The highly successful Dance for Sick Kids virtual fundraising event for Ronald McDonald House Charities returns this year during National Families Week 15th to 21st May, 2021. The popular initiative is supported by a national TVC produced by Swingtime Creative, digital and outdoor campaign launching on 15th February.
The campaign aims to raise money to help seriously ill kids and their families by attracting as many people as possible into this unique virtual community – from office workers to dance schools and families.
The commercials feature a volunteer cast including high-profile dancers Jarryd Byrne and Marko Panzic as well as TikTok star Jackson Jansen. They are joined by some of the seriously ill children and their families who have experienced first-hand the incredible support of the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
