By but expect some delays right now trying to get out of san leandro into oakland. The drive time is sluggish. Just before that, that hot spot, there was some overnight roadwork scheduled to wrap up just about now. So hopefully they did clear that in san leandro between davis and marina. Once you get into your downtown oakland exits everything is fine. And then a quick bart alert. We are hearing about 10 to 15 minute delays now between your downtown oakland stop and west oakland so it is causing some delays on that pittsburgbay point line into downtown San Francisco. Again, about a 10 to 15 backup right now. Thank you. The giants have another chance tonight to make up for some bad decisions yesterday. The nationals won 41. Giants pitcher baumgarner threw the ball away trying to get an out at third. Shouldnt have done it, you know, regardless of whether i should have threw it over there or not, cant throw the ball away out there. Was that your call to throw it there and what was your th
Glenn cough apartments on folcroft area were cleared after fire broke out here, in a first floor unit around 10 30 p. M. Three people were taken to the hospital, as is a result, two elderly people transported nearly for evaluation, and one woman who lives in the apartment where the fire started, taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. Fire crews were able to contain the flames to the one apartment, but the smoke and co was keeping everyone out now that the fire is extinguished. Red cross is ace something and close to two dozen of displaced at shelter that has been set up at the fire station. Were providing food for them, and just general comfort until theyre able to get back to the apartments tomorrow morning. When they get back, we get back in, there we can get in our beds, and sleep for good couple of hours. Thats what i would like to do. And no word yet on exactly when those residents would be allowed to return. They tell me, theyre hearing around 8 00, 9 00 this morning, fire o
, in themy question energy sector, we dont differentiate between physical threats and Cyber Threats. We drill with the assumption that they will probably do both at the same time if it is a sophisticated attack. To be frank, the militarys response in its own protection seems to be focused on isolation as a tactic for dealing with the idea of the grid going down. I wonder if you could talk to that a little bit. As tempting as isolation is as a strategy for response, it also potentially makes security a lot more difficult if you have individual grids all over the place. If you could talk about isolation versus integration. Isolation works at a tactical level for immediate shortterm periods. It is not a comprehensive, sustainable strategy. It is this idea of, i will just shut the network down. It is not that it is a bad thing at the tactical level. If you are looking at a base, an installation as opposed to an entire grid or sector. In the long run, i think the right answer for us is goin
Well continue to invest in our capabilities but i look to use the fordnal as think after company as a fort, we have no know when were under attack but at the same time it is incredibly valuable to know when a neighbors fort is under attack or adversaries are marshaling their forces in the forest getting ready to attack. When theyre back in the home Country Building weaponry to attack the fort. My view, the probably singlebest control that any company could have is transparency around whats happening around us, with our sector, cross sectors and with the government. Said another way, i believe that the lowest cost, highest value control is information sharing. That information sharing has the best roi of any investment any of us could make in the system of cyber protection. One companys detected moment can become an entire sectors defense or cross sector defense. And further, no one entity can stand alone. Not a single business, not a sector, not Law Enforcement, not the intelligence co
To bring them together, we need to accelerate the integration of those six technologies, and then we need to build that proactive model for security. This will make it far more difficult for the adversary to gain access and persist. If theres an insider threat, it will make it far more difficult for him to breach out and grab information hes not permitted to have. So if we want our systems to be more resilient in the future, we need to think about making them disposable. Thank you. And i guess well take some questions now. Thank you very much. [ applause ] ive been given the opportunity to ask the leadoff question. And im going to seize that opportunity. So, first of all, vern, i love this image that you present of moving the momentum from the attacker to the defender. And its very helpful to look at the three core and three supporting technologies that could create a disposable system. Within those three, is there an area that your team is thinking most about, and or a next step in th
