MUMBAI: Petrol price in the city breached the Rs 93-mark and was hiked to an all-time high of Rs 93.20 per litre on Thursday. Diesel rate also increased by 37 paise to a new all-time high of Rs 83.67 per litre at city petrol pumps.
The cost per km for petrol-driven cars in Mumbai during peak hour rush is now close to Rs 6. “We have to face traffic snarls during peak hour and now driving to office is expensive,” said Vikrant Bhat, who works in Bandra Kurla complex.
Across Maharashtra, more than 23 districts have petrol prices crossing Rs 94 for a litre. Parbhani has the highest petrol rate at Rs 95.39 followed by Nanded at Rs 95.22 per litre.

Petrol and diesel prices rose again by 22-27 paise per litre on Friday after oil marketing companies (OMCs) decided to continue the upward price revision of auto fuels, after keeping rates static for two days. Following todayâs rate revision, petrol prices were hiked by 22-25 paise a litre while the price of diesel was raised by 23-27 paise across major metro cities of the country.
Petrol in Delhi has touched all-time high and costs Rs 85.45 per litre while diesel is retailing at Rs 75.63 per litre, 25 paisa more than the previous price, as per data from Indian Oil Corporation website. Cost of petrol per litre in Mumbai is also at its record high of Rs 92.04 while a litre of diesel costs Rs 82.40.
Petrol price on Wednesday crossed Rs 91 for a litre in Mumbai after remaining unchanged for five days. On the other hand, diesel is priced at a record high in the financial capital of the country at Rs 81.34.
