Emergency officials at the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary have issued evacuation orders to an additional 126 properties in and around the Baldy Mountain neighbourhood of Electoral Area E/West Boundary as the Nk’Mip Creek Wildfire continues to grow.
The total number of properties now under evacuation order is 248, and 318 properties remain on evacuation alert until further notice.
The new area now under evacuation order had been on evacuation alert since July 20. The BC Wildfire Service confirmed with the RDKB overnight that residents would need to leave the area this morning.

GATLINBURG â The City of Gatlinburg is planning more than $1 million in paving in the FY 2021-2022 budget.
The budget, which City Commission will consider first reading of at 6 p.m. today in City Hall, includes revenues for paving.
âIt is almost nine miles of roads we are doing this year,â public information officer Seth Butler said.
In a presentation about capital projects earlier this year, Public Works Director Larry Henderson expressed pride in the work the City has done for paving, especially in the last five years.
The city has spent approximately $5.7 million in the last five years to pave 58.35 miles of the cityâs approximately 93.24 miles of roadway, Henderson said.
MONTEREY PARK, Calif.
A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who gunned down an avid hiker in the San Gabriel Mountains last month, Los Angeles County authorities said Friday.
Gerald “Myles” Purdue, 63, of San Bernardino was found shot to death on Mount Baldy Road on March 25.
Lt. Barry Hall said Purdue frequently hiked in the Mount Baldy area and was familiar with the Los Angeles County side of the massive mountain, which rises to an elevation of more than 10,000 feet (3,048 meters).
His body was found in a culvert about 60 yards (55 meters) from a turnout where he had parked and locked his car.

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Authorities today were offering a $10,000 reward to generate clues in the killing of a 63-year-old man whose body was found close to a hiking trail near Mount Baldy Road north of Claremont last month.
The body of Gerald “Miles Purdue was found near the 3.09-mile marker on Mount Baldy Road on March 25, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff s Department.
He had suffered a shotgun wound to the chest, the Los Angeles County coroner s office reported.
“Purdue was an avid hiker and frequented the Mount Baldy area, a sheriff s statement said.
