The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 5.9 per cent provincially and 4.2 per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30am on February 8, 2021, 53 new cases of the virus have been identified. However, one case has been removed due to a data correction. This brings the net-new number of cases today to 52 and the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 30,289.
Public health officials advise four additional deaths in people with COVID-19 have been reported today including:
a female in her 60s from the Northern health region;
a female in her 70s from the Northern health region;

Another seven Manitobans were reported dead due to COVID-19 on Tuesday as public health officials announced 130 new cases of the virus in the province.
Four of Tuesday’s fatalities are linked to ongoing outbreaks at long-term care facilities in Manitoba, including a man in his 80s and a woman in her 90s from River East Personal Care Home. A man in his 90s from Holy Family Home and a woman in her 70s from Le Chalet de la Broquerie Assisted Living facility were also deaths connected to outbreaks.

A COVID-19 outbreak at Grace Hospital is being declared over.

• a male in his 70s from the Interlake–Eastern health region;
• a male in his 80s from the Interlake–Eastern health region, linked to an outbreak at Kin Place in Oakbank;
• a female in her 70s from the Northern health region;
• a male in his 70s from the Southern Health–Santé Sud health region;
• a female in her 70s from the Southern Health – Santé Sud health region, linked to an outbreak at the Portage District General Hospital Medical Unit in Portage la Prairie;
