KAAC submits memorandum to PM Modi - Eastern Mirror

DIPHU: A delegation of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) led by Chief Executive Member (CEM), Tuliram Ronghang met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday. They submitted a memorandum for immediate implementation of Article 244(A) of the constitution for creation of an autonomous state for the hill districts of Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong and NC Hills in the state of Assam, full implementation of MoU signed in 1995 and MoS of 2011 and 2021 signed by different armed groups with the state and Central government, sanctioning of special grant-in-aid for all-round development of the two hill districts of Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong and direct funding from the Central government. KAAC nominated members administered oath of office

Our Correspondent Diphu, July 8 (EMN): The four nominated Members of Autonomous Council (MAC) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KACC) were administered the oath of office here on Friday. The election to the 26 seats of the KAAC was held on June 8, where all the seats were won by BJP. The KAAC, governed under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India, can induct four as nominated members. The four nominated members namely Phenpiga Rengma, former chairman of Sports and Youth Development Board, KAAC; Mukut Mahanta, former MAC from Deopani; Dr. Mongve Rongpi and Krishna Bahadur Bhatarai Chetry were administered the oath of office by the deputy commissioner, Dibakar Nath, on behalf of the Governor of Assam, held at the auditorium of new KAAC Secretariat building on Friday.
