Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On March 12, Mongolia received 14,400 doses of AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccines via the COVAX Facility, a partnership between the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF.
This delivery is part of a first wave of arrivals that will continue in the coming days and weeks. UNICEF and WHO have been technically, financially and logistically supporting the Government of Mongolia to prepare for the COVID-19 immunization campaign.
“In the battle against this global pandemic, countries around the world have launched the rollout of COVID-19 vaccination. The vaccination campaign in Mongolia started on 23 February 2021 and is accelerating further. We are happy to welcome the arrival of COVID-19 vaccines from the COVAX Facility. /MONTSAME/ Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene met with Head of the European Bank for
Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Mongolia Hannes Takacs on March 11.
At the
outset of the meeting, the PM remarked that he is grateful to the EBRD on making
valuable contribution in promoting Mongolia’s private sector development in 15 years
of cooperation.
In frame
of the cooperation with the Government of Mongolia, EBRD financed 114 projects
in total with USD 2.2 billion, expanding the scope of cooperation more since
2017.
The sides agreed to continue
implementation of projects and programs for long term in directions of infrastructure,
thermal energy, green apartment and improving disaster resistance, which are of

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. In 1985, former Prime Minister of Canada Pierre Trudeau visited Mongolia
with his children and met with Leader J.Batmunkh. At that time, young diplomat Khaliun
Panidjunai worked as an assistant interpreter. We asked senior diplomat and
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary P.Khaliun to share his memories of
this visit.
-Pierre Trudeau,
the former Prime Minister of Canada, traveled to Mongolia with his children and
you worked as an interpreter. Can you share us your memories of that time?
-In 1972, I graduated from the Institute of International Relations in
Moscow with a degree in French and English and took a job at the Ministry of
State Great Khural, the parliament of Mongolia, ratified the Paris Agreement on Climate Change on September 1, 2016. Within the framework of the agreement, Mongolia raised its target to reduce total greenhouse gas emissions to 22.7 percent by 2030, through updating its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC), which was approved by the Government Decree No.407.
