SRINAGAR, Jammu and Kashmir, India (AA): At least two dozen shacks belonging to Rohingya refugees were burned in an overnight fire in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, a leader of the persecuted community said on Monday.
Salamat Ullah told Anadolu Agency that a school and mosque were among the gutted structures, while more than 18 families were left homeless.
He said the fire, which started around 1 a.m. local time (1930 GMT) in Maratha Mohalla area of Jammu, also destroyed his own shop. He appreciated local police for help during the crisis.
Mohammad Haneef Atmar is said to meet External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to discuss ways to further bolster bilateral cooperation in a range of areas.
