Vaccinated? You no longer need to mask up at most borough facilities after June 1

Masks won’t be required at Fairbanks North Star Borough facilities, except for the bus system, for vaccinated people after June 1, according to a Friday afternoon announcement from the borough. Masks will continue to be required on the borough’s Metropolitan Area Commuter System in accordance with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The agency relaxed public health guidance for vaccinated people last week, but not for people riding public planes, trains and buses. On public transportation, everyone is required to continue to mask up, even vaccinated people. No vaccination proof will be requested of unmasked people at borough facilities, such as the Mary Siah Recreation Center or the Juanita Helms Borough Administration Center, according to a statement from Mayor Bryce Ward.

NAHL announces monthly player awards for March

April 6, 2021 The North American Hockey League (NAHL) has announced its monthly player awards for the month of March.  The Bauer Hockey NAHL Forward of the Month is Will Margel from the Johnstown Tomahawks.  The Bauer Hockey NAHL Defenseman of the Month is Grant Docter from the Minnesota Wilderness.  The Vaughn NAHL Goaltender of the Month is Jake Sibell from the Aberdeen Wings. Only players who are nominated by their respective teams are considered for the NAHL monthly awards.   Bauer Hockey NAHL Forward of the Month: Will Margel, Johnstown Tomahawks Johnstown Tomahawks forward Will Margel, 20, had a huge month of March to help his club widen their lead atop the NAHL’s East Division. The 5’9/167 lbs. native of Potomac, MD, led all NAHL players with 17 points during the month in just nine games played. The included 12 goals and five assists to go along with a +7 rating for the University of New Hampshire recruit. Margel, who is currently on a 15-game point streak

April 1, 2021 Ivan Prosvetov made his NHL debut on Wednesday night. He played in the NAHL during the 2016-17 season and played in the 2017 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament. Former NAHL and Minnesota Magicians goaltender Ivan Prosvetov made his National Hockey League (NHL) debut on Wednesday night for the Arizona Coyotes in their 9-3 loss against the Colorado Avalanche. Prosvetov made his NHL debut when he relieved Coyotes starting goalie Adin Hill with 13:38 remaining in the first period. Hill surrendered four goals on 10 shots faced. Prosvetov made 23 saves in 53:38 of action. Sometimes goalies are going to have a tough night, Coyotes head coach Rick Tocchet said. I wanted to get (Prosvetov) in there, give him a chance. I thought he was great, I thought Provo came in there and battled his ass off.”
