Rockets HC blasts off against Twin City Thunder

The Twin City Thunder got a first-hand look at Rockets Hockey Club’s offensive firepower Thursday. The Rockets scored five times in the first period as they defeated the Thunder 9-2 in a USPHL National Collegiate Development Conference contest at the Advent Health Center in Wesley Chapel, Florida. “I would say they are the most consistent team in the league right now,” Thunder assistant coach Cam Robichaud said. “They have beaten the (Jersey) Hitmen, they have beaten the (Junior) Bruins, they beat the South Shore Kings yesterday. (All those) teams are top teams in the league, (and) they have beaten (them) as of late.”

The Twin City Thunder selected three 2005-born players who will be eligible to play junior hockey next season: forwards Ryan Leonard, Spencer Hirsch and goaltender Hayden Rising. The Thunder’s other pick, 2006-born Aiden Pisano, can begin his junior hockey career in the 2022-23 season. “You always try to get the best player that will fit in your organization,” Twin City Thunder co-owner and head coach Dan Hodge said. “You are obviously projecting a few years down the road. You never know. I want to get players from good programs, No. 1, and are doing well in their programs. Their advisers had reached out and sent us video.”

Blaine s Isabelle Stadden wins 200 backstroke at Pro Swim Series meet World record holder Regan Smith of Lakeville had the third-fastest time in the preliminaries and scratched from the final.  By Staff reports Text size Copy shortlink: Isabelle Stadden of Blaine won the women s 200-meter backstroke Sunday at the Pro Swim Series meet in San Antonio. Stadden, a freshman at the University of California, finished in 2 minutes, 9.31 seconds. World record holder Regan Smith of Lakeville had the third-fastest time in the preliminaries and scratched from the final. Smith finished the meet with victories in the 100 back, 100 butterfly and 200 butterfly and a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle.

Bruins make changes to upcoming schedule

KAAL-TV Created: December 21, 2020 06:01 PM (ABC 6 News) - The Austin Bruins have announced some changes to the final games of the 2020 calendar year and first games of 2021. The games for December 31 vs. Chippewa Steel at Riverside Arena, January 1 at St, Cloud Blizzard, and January 2 vs Minnesota Magicians have been postponed and will be rescheduled for a later date.  Ownership and management groups for all four teams involved in the postponement are working diligently to assign new dates for the games.  For fans who purchased tickets to the Bruins home games scheduled for December 31 or January 2, the Bruins will be issuing an automatic refund in the coming days.
