The Pointe aux Barques lighthouse will see its lifesaving station and captain’s quarters get refurbishments in the future thanks to a grant it received earlier this month.
The lighthouse is the recipient of this year’s Evan Graham Preservation Award from the Michigan Architectural Foundation, which provides financial assistance to groups who wish to seek to preserve Michigan’s historic architecture. The lighthouse is due to receive $15,000 in the grant.

To participate in the Christmas Eve Jingle, families need only set out onto their porch at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve to ring a bell for 2 minutes. Bells can be picked up at various businesses across the county at no cost. (Courtesy Photo)
UPPER THUMB In an effort to spread Christmas cheer and bring the community together, Chelsea Corbishley, family services coordinator at Head Start, had the idea to bring a Christmas Eve Jingle to Huron County.
