extraordinarily long time. and we have another case here where the police are saying that the person who was shot went for the officer s gun this has become a very familiar story to people. absolutely. is that just my read with it this seems to be the story in many of these cases? i ve been involved in many police shooting cases as a plaintiff s lawyer and it is common narrative now that the person went for their gun. and that s just kind of ridiculous to me. like someone putting their happened in the waistband when they have nothing and the police have guns on them like in the michael brown case. so it s a common thing that is often said. this case, though strikes me in a way that is fundamentally racial profiling. this is a young man who was walking down the street minding his own business. the police tried to stop him. he said no. he was not under arrest. he was not unlegally detained. key have continued on. which he did. but it s the police who pursued
box recorders. and obviously the weather is a factor in trying to make sure that they find all of these parts of the plane. what about the tracking technology that is being used, satellite technology being used? we saw nothing was helpful in finding mh 370, but in this case, do we have the tech knowledge to make sure enough of this plane is found so that investigators can figure out what happened? well, i think by the fact that we found the surface wreckage, that s not going to be a real question in the case of this wreckage. certainly a question for the possibility of accidents in the future. that s a huge public policy question. your ability to track planes more exactly in the air or find out what is handling aboard them mechanically in real time. but now that they think they re in the area where they can find the main body of the wreckage, tracking no longer becomes an issue. but this is not far from the
on the young man s body are there. the question is what abrasions if any do the police offices have to support the notion that there was the kind of struggle that would justify the use of deadly force. but unless you can offset the story of the police officers that he went for his gun, there was a struggle it is unlikely the district attorney s office will file charges against him. there doesn t mean there isn t a viable civil case that is there. it might be the only option that they have available unless there are witnesses who are out there. dy notice we saw in the mikechael brown case the district attorney s office will go at great lengths to discredit witnesses who are not in support of the police. so that could very well happy here, as well. and even in the case of eric garner garner. do you think we have a viable system in this country for dealing with officer-involved shootings of civilians when the district attorney who works with the police is involved? no i do not.
