Santa Maria Joint Union High School District Names New Administrators

By Janene Scully, Noozhawk North County Editor | @JaneneScully June 13, 2021 | 7:30 p.m. During last week’s Board of Trustees meeting, district leaders also named two new principals and an assortment of assistant principals to fill vacancies. Righetti High School Principal Karen Rotondi is the district’s new director of teaching and learning, and Delta High School Principal Sal Reynoso is the new director of certificated human resources. Mike Stockton, assistant prinicipal at Pioneer Valley High School, will become the new director of instructional technology. The trio will start the new district-level jobs July 1. Meanwhile, Ted Lyon, currently an assistant principal at Righetti, will be the new RHS principal while Nate Maas, director of student services at the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District, will take over as the new Delta High principal.

Cudworth named Jim Holsted Athlete of the Year

Marcie Cudworth (center) with Susan and Mike Stockton Outgoing Mountain Home High School senior Marcie Cudworth has received more recognition for her time as a Lady Bomber. Cudworth was presented on Tuesday with the Jim Holsted Athlete of the Year Award. Cudworth excelled in three sports during her time at Mountain Home. She is a four-time All-State and All-Conference cross country performer with a pair of individual state championships in 2019 and 2020. Cudworth is also a three-time individual conference champion and helped the Lady Bombers win the team conference title four consecutive years and the state title this past fall. Cudworth was also a top performer in track and field. On Thursday, she won the Class 5A state title in the 3200-meter run. In addition, Cudworth is part of a team currently holding the school record in the 4×800-meter relay.

Ottawa Valley man killed in Florida plane crash remembered as loving father and grandfather

  OTTAWA An Ottawa Valley man who died last week in a plane crash in Florida is being remembered as a spirited and happy man, and a loving father and grandfather. Mike Stockton, 67, died when the plane he was in, a Piper Aerostar 600, crashed on Thursday afternoon in a field in Labelle, Florida, about 50 km east of Fort Myers. The Hendry County Sheriff s Office said on Facebook that the plane crashed about 40 yards (36.5 m) from a local church. A second person in the plane was injured. In a statement to CTV News Ottawa, Stockton s son Chris Stockton called his father an amazing man who cared deeply for his friends and family.
