Wind definitely is not helping the firefighters. Red flag warnings are in effect for much of our state. Danielle grant is in the weather center. Some places have been gusts up to 60 mailings an hour. They have been unruly and unfortunately this is what we were imagining happening this afternoon with the strong winds out there and tinder dry conditions. We see wildfires spark up like that. Wind gusts 30 mileperhour in longmont, 60 mile the cheyenne ridge, fort morgan 62 mileperhour wind speeds and 20s and 30s in the denver metro area. These winds will weaken heading towards this afternoon further into this evening. Pikes peak had a gust of nearly 90, monarch gust seeing gusts nearly 70 most of the day. The flags at csu give you an indication how fierce those winds have been. In the fort collins area the winds have been clocked at about 60 Miles Per Hour. Those gusts contributed to a small fire next to i25 in fort collins this afternoon. Fire crews got it out but not until after the fire ate up several acres. Right now fort collins looking at mostly sunny skies, temperatures up and down the front range in the 70s and 80s. We are looking at temperatures in the 60s out to our west. Our record high for today, by the way, 82. That was set in 2014, so not that long ago and boy, we got close this afternoon. Winds also not a big deal today. Breezy side, still a little gusty in some spots, specifically out to the west 10 to 20 mileperhour gusts right now.
