Pikes peak had a gust of nearly 90, monarch gust seeing gusts nearly 70 most of the day. The flags at csu give you an indication how fierce those winds have been. In the fort collins area the winds have been clocked at about 60 Miles Per Hour. Those gusts contributed to a small fire next to i25 in fort collins this afternoon. Fire crews got it out but not until after the fire ate up several acres. This is a fire in aurora, a difficult one to fight considering the winds in the metro area. Flames burned through four townhouses. Everyone got out okay. Well have more on that fire in just a minute. Now to what has become an emergency situation in southern colorado, Nathan Lundberg was on a flight out of colorado a raging monster. In a few hours it destroyed more than 10,000 acres and tonight that number is up to over 15,000 acres. It started in Custer County and now spread into Pueblo County. Its burning in an area west of pueblo and walsenburg and east of westcliffe. There is no containment on the fire tonight and there is a lot of fuel to burn. This area has not seen a fire like this in 140 years. Earlier in the day we heard 11,000 acres, now tonight 15,000 acres lost. 175 more are under mandatory evacuations tonight. Five out buildings have also underred and there is no containment on burned and there is no containment on the fire right now. 9news reporter dan grossman is in westcliffe where thousands are being warned to be ready to go, if necessary. Reporter red flag warnings let the folks here know this could be possible, but they didnt know it would be this bad. 70 mileperhour gusts have pushed the junkins fire eastward into pueblo where more its a big mess. Firefighters in aurora had a fire that burned about four townhomes at about 3 00 this afternoon near the intersection of east louisiana and south tower road. Flames heavily damaged four townhomes. High wind firefighters contain the fire because of the high wind firefighters said. Youre just chasing it at that point. The wind just pushes it everywhere. Charcoal from a grill thrown away in a plastic trash can started it. The briquettes take time to cool, which is why they always should be thrown in a metal trash can. No one was hurt in the fire. When donald trump, jr. Planned to hold a campaign a lot of people got the memo, but the restaurant did not. The sink says it did get a reservation for 50 people under a different name. The swift action from the school is appropriate she says to keep her students safe. There have been too many examples where hate speech begins as just speech, but then someone takes it a step further. Reporter she believes there is a Mental Health issue with some of the students, but also says theres been a minimization of hate speech in society and the school will do what it can to teach the teens it wont be tolerated. A man suspected of leaving a bomb outside the Nederland Police department now awaits extradition back to colorado. Over the weekend 64yearold David Ansberry was arrested in chicago and is facing a federal explosives charge. Last tuesday a detective found the bomb in a backpack. It may have been designed to detonate remotely using a cell phone. Investigators used Surveillance Video from the store where the cell phone was purchased to identify ansberry as the suspect. At 3 6 witnesses noticed his height.
