Residents in the Burnham-On-Sea area are being invited to join a fundraising beach walk at Brean on June 11th June in aid of PROPS, a special needs charity for young adults based in Bristol.
Burnham-On-Sea's Ritz Social Club has this week presented The Friends of Burnham Hospital with a bumper cheque for over £7,400 following two years of fundraising.
Popular fundraising charity quiz nights are set to re-start at Burnham-On-Sea’s Ritz Social Club from Monday 26th July.
From their launch in 2014, the popular quizzes have raised a huge £25,000 for local clubs, groups and charities.
The first post-lockdown quiz will be supporting Burnham and Highbridge Sea Cadets when everyone will be welcome to come along and enjoy a fun quiz while raising funds for a good cause at the same time – you do not need to be a club member to take part.
Organiser Mike Barsby says: “The quiz nights are family-friendly, with hand out rounds given out at 8pm and the questions starting promptly at 8.30pm, ending about 10pm.”
MORE than £4,000 has been raised for a Burnham-on-Sea hospital charity, after 130 people took part in a sponsored beach walk last Saturday. The walkers set off - at staggered times to prevent large gatherings - towards one of three destinations: Burnham lighthouse, Berrow beach or Brean Down. They then returned Burnham s Ritz Social Club, for refreshments and certificates of achievement, with all funds raised going to the Friends of Burnham-on-Sea War Memorial Hospital. The Friends is a charitable foundation which strives to improve the lives of everyone who needs help within the community. Event organiser Mike Barsby told that
Weekly News that it had been an amazing response , and they were on target to raise £5,000.
Over 120 local people set to take part in Burnham-On-Sea beach walk for hospital
Around 120 local people are signed up to take part in a Sponsored Walk this Saturday (April 24th) to support the Friends of Burnham-On-Sea Memorial hospital.
Around 50 people will be walking the full distance to Brean and back while others will be walking to Berrow.
By popular demand, the organisers say that there is now also the option for those with young children or people that just don’t fancy the longer routes of taking a shorter walk to the lighthouse on the beach.
Organiser Mike Barsby adds: “All walkers will start and finish from the check-in gazebo outside Burnham’s Ritz Social Club where free refreshments will be available with the compliments of The Ritz. Certificates of achievement will be given to everyone on their return.”
