and it s a disgraceful situation. it s a total witch hunt. boy, what a different tune from president trump now, right? because that raid is what kicked off the entire sequence of events that led to cohen saying he was going to be loyal to his family, not his former boss, to just a couple of weeks ago, sitting in front of the oversight committee in congress. and the really interesting thing is that raid happened long after cohen was on mueller s orbit. so we know from these new documents that mueller was investigating michael cohen a year before these raids. you know, as a former prosecutor, i can t imagine going to my boss at the justice department and saying, hey, i want to get a search warrant for the president s lawyer. you would have to jump through so many hoops. probable cause is the technical legal standard. you would have to be very sure that the president s lawyer was doing something down and dirty to get that kind of dramatic search warrant for his office, his hotel, his
voters, many of them are having a love affair with beto because he reminds them of barack obama. he s sort of the shiny new object. the vanity fair cover, the rollout, right? but at the same time, there cannot be a double standard. and i think this is where the media and pundits and all of us have to be very careful about the line that we tell here. do people like kirsten gillibrand and senator warren feel like they have to offer more specific policy ideas, because they are female candidates? and they have more to prove? i don t necessarily think that is i hope that s not the case, but i think we have to be very careful that we don t fall in the same trap we fell into in 2015 and 2016, where you know, we want we expected more out of some of the female candidates. well, obviously, hillary was the only one, but even some of the down-ballot candidates. now there are sometimes higher expectations of women that i think we tend to place. and so i think we have to be very, very careful
and not too sneaky. he knows people that come from wealth and power and they ended up messed up. he said that kim jong un is not one of those people. he continues to reap praise on this leader of north korea. he is expected to do the same. we ll stay in close touch with you. thank you very much. on the scene here. joining us now democratic senator of delaware is a member of judiciary and foreign relations. i want to begin with pliekmicha cohen s trio today, tomorrow and thursday. what questions does cohen need to answer. i think it s important for the american people to hear from president trump s long time trusted personal attorney, whether or not he ordered him to kplit criminal acts while he was a candidate or president.
we recognize that cohen lied in previous testimony. he has taken responsibility for that. he will be serving jail time for that. he is able to testify and back it up with documents. one of the president s closest allies of the house of representatives, republican congressman, he is already now threatening cohen ahead of his testimony. it is a pretty shocking development. i ll put it up on the screen. do your wife and father in law know about your girlfriends? maybe tonight would be a good time for that chat. i wonder if she ll remain faithful when you re there prison. she is about to learn a lot. that certainly sounds like a threat but like witness intimidation. what do you think? it does. that s the sort of behavior that s sadly become normalized in the last two years. i think it would previously be
shocking development. that s right. less shocking in the era of president trump when you consider how the president has tweeted about witnesses, how the president tweeted about his former associates, telling the truth about what happened. he called michael cohen a wreck for telling the truth about some of president trump s actions in his business. so it s not beyond the realm of what we have seen from the president. certainly he set the tone for this sort of behavior. it doesn t make it right. it doesn t make it it doesn t make it dignified for a member of congress to be trying to intimidate a witness coming forward to speak to congress. you mentioned we will likely hear from pelosi on this. i would not be surprised if we also heard from republican leaders in congress and house oversight committee. that s a great question. what does the republican house leadership, how do they respond to this?
