No rush to reduce intra-island travel taxes

Trinidad and Tobago will not be too quick to follow suit with a 50 per cent reduction in travel taxes for Caricom nationals.
The fairly new initiative taken by Barbados and Antigua and Barbuda to boost tourism and travel in the region, is not something travel and tourism stakeholders in T&T believe could just be implemented hurriedly, as such a move could have far-reaching implications and will involve “the wider policy of the Government.”
Barbados PM condemns assassination of Haiti’s president

Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley, has condemned in the strongest terms, the assassination of Haiti s President, Jovenel Moïse, describing it as “an atrocious act”.
And PM Mottley also is calling for an end to the violence and for all Haitians to work towards peace in their country.
The Barbados PM, along with T&T’s PM Rowley, and other CARICOM Heads of Government, are meeting in emergency session this morning, to discuss the situation in Haiti, and work out a plan of action by which CARICOM could help bring stability to the troubled country.
