CAPE TOWN - Police on Sunday said tipoffs by community members led to the arrest of two alleged cop killers this week.
Metro police officer Mzuvukile Mhlengi was gunned down on Wednesday. The 49-year-old was based at the Metro Police Radio Control at N1 City in Goodwood.
He was off duty at the time and was shot while sitting in his vehicle outside his home in Philippi.

Cape Town - Police have launched a manhunt for suspects who murdered an off-duty metro police officer and stole his vehicle at his home in Marikana, Philippi East.
Police spokesperson FC van Wyk said: “Philippi East police have launched a manhunt for suspects after an off-duty member attached to the City of Cape Town’s Metro Police, was shot and fatally wounded earlier today, on Wednesday afternoon in Marikana.
“According to reports police responded to a complaint and proceeded to a residence in Marikana at about 1.40 pm. Upon their arrival, police found the body of a 49-year-old man with gunshot wounds next to his vehicle.
Philippi East police have launched a manhunt for suspects after an off-duty member attached to the City of Cape Town’s Metro Police, was shot and fatally wounded earlier today, Wednesday 2021-04-28 in Marikana.
According to reports SAPS members responded to a complaint and proceeded to Disa Road in Marikana at about 13:40. Upon arrival, the members found the body of a 49-year-old male with gunshot wounds next to his vehicle.
The victim, later identified as a City of Cape Town Metro Police member who was based at the Metro Police Radio Control at N1 City in Goodwood was declared dead on the scene by paramedics.
