NEW DELHI: India s merchandise export is expected to grow at 4.9 per cent in Q4FY21, predicted Export-Import Bank of India in a report. Accordingly, the report cited that total merchandise exports can amount to $78.6 billion, growing at 4.9 per cent.
Similarly, the non-oil exports are expected to grow. They might reach $73.9 billion, growing at 12 per cent during the fourth quarter of 2020-21. However, aggregate exports for 2020-21 are forecast to amount to $279.4 billion, witnessing a contraction of 10.8 per cent over 2019-20. Besides, non-oil exports are forecast to amount to $256.8 billion, witnessing a contraction of 5.6 per cent over 2019-20.

Taxes alone account for 15 per cent of production cost, says association
The aluminium industry has urged the government to fix RoDTEP (Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products) at 5 per cent and clear the uncertainty by notifying the rates soon to double exports to $10 billion.

Commerce Ministry has announced new scheme, RoDTEP, from January 1, 2021 to compensate exporters for the input taxes not reimbursed under existing schemes
Concerned about the fate of exporters from the garments and made-ups sector who had to shift to the new incentive scheme, Remission of Duties and Taxes on Export Products (RoDTEP), from January 1 2021, the Textiles Ministry has sought details from the Commerce Ministry on the rates of reimbursement they will be entitled to, a source closely tracking the matter has said.
“Exporters of garments and made-ups are nervous as they have no idea what reimbursement rates they will get under the new RoDTEP scheme and whether they would be comparable to the earlier scheme RoSCTL. The Textiles Ministry therefore wants to find out what the rates are before they are announced so it can have some say in the matter, the official told
