The fire started. They say its clear the fire almost instantly overwhelmed them. There was an extraordinarily hot fire and the bodies do exhibit signs of extreme thermal damage. Reporter also a grim change in tactics. Just before 10 00 this morning, this went from a rescue mission t to a recovery operation. A total of 34 people are presumed dead. Only 20 have been recovered. The five survivors are all conception crew members, including the ships captain. All were stationed on the top deck when the fire started. Today we also learned that many of the victims were from northern california. Today a mother of one of those 34 victims showed up at the shoreline memorial. We showed up because my daughter, alexander kurtz, was on the conception. And she died. I can tell you that very poignant duty that we have. State and local officials warned that the emergency spillway of the oroville dam might fail because of erosion. A lot of evacuees are at red cross shelters. Right now that spillway is holding.
