there s only one thing on the ballot, the ward 5 seat, there are a lot of candidates vying for the seat. as you can see by the volunteers and the signs here, there s also a lot of interest in this race. it s a special election. only involving ward 5. but you wouldn t know it, looking at all the campaign signs and volunteers at bunker hill elementary. there are 12 names on the ballot. when the polls opened at 7:00 this morning, turn-out was steady. and nearly 2,000 people cast ballots in early voting. i think it s important. people need to come out. we need a change. reporter: ward 5 resident, die ann lo voiced what many voters seemed to be thinking, it s time to go in a new direction, to move forward and not look back. for those of us who live in ward 5, it s critical. we ve come through a very bad time. i think we re looking forward to a really good future. if you don t vote, you can t complain. we have an opportunity for a new fresh perspective on things and i think
