area and we ll continue to watch those storms well off to the west. something else we re talking about today, the heat, we re up to 90 degrees right now, and we re just getting started. we ll check back in a bit. doug, thanks. a former teacher strikes a plea deal today. kevin ricks has been sentenced to 25 years behind bars for molesting underaged boys over the past three decades. melissa malay was in court and joins us with reaction from one of the victims. christopher pain was just 11 years old and was at summer camp when kevin rishgs his counselor sexually abused him. in court, for the first time he was able to tell his abuser how that summer changed his life. it was hard. my heart started beating real fast. christopher payne will be the first to tell you, the past 30 years haven t been easy. he spoke out thursday hoping his horrific story will help someone else. i m hoping more boys out there will come out and say what s happened to them. payne was the only
company recognized that this was a registered sex offender who was attempting to purchase the chloroform and they contacted fbi who, in turn, contacted the police department. detectives went to the computer repair store where hall was working to confront him. search warrant documents show hall admitted trying to purchase chloroform. when asked what he knew about the substance he told detectives it was used to knock you out. he also planned to test it on himself. police also discovered hall had failed to report a new e-mail address in violation of sex offender registry rules. his probation was revoked and he was jailed. police credit the chemical company for its tip. a company spokesman says because their products are intended for teachers and science experiments they routinely checkup on buyers. at the computer repair store where hall was initially trained and later worked, the owner says he took the young man in as a favor to a customer who knew hall s parents. while the o
she and a classmate at the school of advanced studies were trying to cross 18th street when they were run down. julia died. the other student, though severely injured, managed to survive. chargeded in case, 23-year-old shaunica adams. her blood alcohol level that day was nearly twice the legal limit. adams has pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter. she was to have been sentenced in superior court today, but the judge took himself off the case today. the reasons? he said the oldest daughter of his administrative assistant had a relationship with the defendant adams. the judge says one of his children is involved in the johns hopkins graduate school program, although he said she didn t know julia. after the postponement today miss bachlightner says she was very disappointed in the american justice system. am very disappointed. this would not happen in europe. i am sure. reporter: sentencing guidelines in this case, three to seven years. monday, a new judge, new proceeding
