A couple things, in terms of whether its appropriate to fund a capital need thats technically in a Enterprise Department with a general obligation i appreciate your acknowledgment that that is something weve done in the past and were planning to do it again in november by having a bond for muni, which is an Enterprise Department. I appreciate that acknowledgment. I guess my question is also, with streetlights, you made a comment about how this has somehow been an issue, but the fact is we have a Capital Asset that happens to be skidding inside the puc and Enterprise Department, but the department has been completely unable to care for this asset. Not because of lack of desire to care for it, but because they have no funds essentially to take care of these beyond a very basic maintenance program. I guess the question is how do we think about that when you have an asset in an Enterprise Department that has just deteriorated. And i would add to that, that i have heard from the puc particu
His commendation. Thank you president chiu. Today i am honoring a special person, michelle rutherford, a friend and advocate of the children of Family Services of San Francisco. Would you like to come up . I met michelle in 1997 when she was asked by our Human Services agency to lead the child Care Planning department. This was created as a offshoot of the welfare reform act, also known as tanf and it was amazing to have phetd met her at that time. As the program manager, michelle had an impressive record of bringing forth Innovative Solutions to whatever shes done. Her experience as a public schoolteacher, which i didnt know about, and social worker and public advocate add tremendous depth in her perspective. Michelle possesses a deep understanding that our youth benefit from having educators and caretakers continue to improve their skills through quality training and trainings. She brings together child care providers, educators, parents and policymakers to achieve common vision and
Mandatory composting recycling policy to move our city to a city of zero waste. She helped advance us to be the electric vehicle capital. Shes someone who helped to encourage expansion of our citys outreach efforts to our immigrant populations when it comes to environmental public information. She helped to implement the existing commercial building ordinance with an 82 percent compliance rate. She initiated our citys first Drug Take Back Program which has collected over 16,000 pounds of unwanted medicine. Helped to plan our 2012 Green Economy forum where we are making sure were putting people to work and doing well by the economy. And she helped to support the citys bio initiative. We have known me melanie before she even joined. She has been a long time democratic activist and community leader. We know hopefully why you are leaving the department. We know you will continue to be within our community and look forward to your next leadership role so with that i want to thank you melani
Second. Facebook and twitter theres 65 clicks. Most of those were from twitter. Seems like the twitter poster got out a lot more and retweeted with our partner agencies. Is that a good amount or is that not a good amount . Its difficult to kind of in the abstract know how many clicks you expected or Something Like that. I feel people are mobilizing around their microphones and [laughter] [speaker not understood]. Obviously we would like the number to be much, much higher. Compared to other things were doing its not terrible, but if we want an impact weve got to drive those numbers up. To your original question, weve never paid for additional promotion for facebook or twitter. There are things we can do without putting money out and we should and will be doing those things. But, yeah, its obviously were in a starting point. We need to build those numbers. It seems like the department has a phenomenal field outreach program, if one can characterize it in those terms, which we spend money
For any of these things. We could go through them each and talk about the market barriers or the barriers to each one of them and what we might do to overcome them. And if we were to focus on 100 renewable, thats a topic that youve become very familiar with. Energy efficiency, i could talk about that probably for a couple of days. Transportation would be harder for me okay. Im not a transportation guy. One of the things i would point out that cal was just saying, youve got the demand management side and then theres the making muni better side. And were not going to be able to get a mode shift if muni doesnt get the resources it needs to improve and expand its services. If it stays limited and you want to get on the bus its packed and the buses are bypassing you, you know, you cant shift mode. So, if muni is going to be a strategic part of achieving our mode shift goals. Thank you, commissioner. Director nutter. So, thanks, cam. I was wondering if you could talk a little about how the c
