Transportation to [speaker not understood] management . On your previous pie chart there was one slice for tdm and one slice for mode shift. Transportation demand management, i think thats it also includes pricing. Cal, you want to respond to that . Yes. So, Transportation Demand management a lot of the work our department does. So, its the car pool program, its ride sharing. Its gaunter benefits. As cal just mentioned, its sorry, managing demand. So, it can include congestion pricing. So, things we can do to lessen the demand for people driving alone. The mode shift is where we put all the policies that have to do with infrastructure investment. So, bike lanes, more muni buses, more lines for muni, things like that. So, in terms of better safer streets for pedestrians, so mode shift covers all those transportation infrastructure actions where demand management covers the more getting people just to not drive in the first place. In the report, this will be on table 2. Great, table page
Motion. So moved. Seconded. By commissioner wan [speaker not understood]. All those in favor say aye 2a aye. It is approved. [speaker not understood]. Next item on the agenda there is [speaker not understood]. On the Meeting Minutes . [speaker not understood] Public Comment . Very soon. Thats the next item. My apologies for the confusion. Okay. Next item is Public Comment. Members of the public may address the commission on items not on todays agenda. All right. We have one card, and that is from rupa bose. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to comment. And thank you for all that you do for the environment, in particular the reduction of pesticide [speaker not understood]. Im here today representing the San Francisco Forest Alliance and wed like to make three comments. The first is on the natural areas Pesticide Use. Natural areas has been using a great amount of herbicides by whatever measure n. 2013 it used more tier 1 herbicides than San Francisco rec and park put together excl
So, the replacing the 100 renewable in our plan is going to be difficult. Now, there are some things that we can do around the edges. One of the slices there is bart 100 renewable by 2030. We can get them to go green, thats great. We have another 11 of the electricity that are direct Access Commercial customers where they could decide as businesses that the right thing for them to do is to go 100 green. So, if we can convince them, and that would be a voluntary activity on their part, that we might be able to reach another piece of the market. The question is how are we going to get to the rest of it. And thats a challenge thats been discussed at this commission and i know will be discussed in the future. So, im not going to go through each one of these parts. I will point out that urban forest is the light blue wedge at the top. Be great to see that expanded, or expanding any of these wedges. Some of them are under influence from the department of the environment. Some of them are not
New vehicles, there are procedures set up for them to Purchase Green vehicles. So, to where we are in the status of the implementation. Concerning the first concept of transit first, 50 departments have now submitted to us plans. Theyre reweird to do this annually to submit plan to describe what their transit first strategies are for their own employees. ~ required the range of programs it doesnt prescribe specifically what they need to do, but theres a laundry list of item that they might employ. And what we are seeing from the reports is that indicated here, 44 of the departments are now offering either muni tokens or flickr cards to encourage their employees to use those transit means rather than taking a car for meetings or other workrelated purposes. Separately from the plans that are submitted to us, but by virtue of a transportation survey that we conduct with City Employees, we see that 64 employee 64 of employees who report that they do travel on work purposes, 64 use transit
People are shocked when they realize whats happening. We ask for no tier 1 or tier 2 pesticides to be used in natural areas. Our second comment is about plant mixes in general. In tracking the use of herbicides in San Francisco, we found that the original source documents show no way to identify [speaker not understood] mixes of chemicals. Were not talking about adjuvants, but [speaker not understood]. Little results exist about synergistic effects. So, we ask all departments start to identify mixes and s. F. Department of environment consider plants with special case and automatically tier 1. Our third comment is about Second Generation [speaker not understood]. I dont know if youre aware, but another owl has been found dead in the glenn canyon area. Last year there was a great owl killed. This year its [speaker not understood]. The neighbors got proxy results. Those owls have died of rat poison eating rodents with Second Generation [speaker not understood]. We under the department of
