The Marietta College campus and local community are invited to a special presentation Christian Nationalism and Democratic Crisis by guest lecturer Dr. Randall Balmer, who is the John Phillips Chair in Religion at Dartmouth.Balmer, an Episcopal priest, is an authority on 20th-century American religion, evangelicalism, and the origins of the religious right. He was invited to speak to campus by Dr. David Torbett, Marietta’s Israel Ward Andrews Professor of Religion, who reviewed two of Balmer’s books for a journal.

A special event this Saturday welcomes the Marietta community to celebrate the Year of the Dragon.This year’s Multicultural Festival and Lunar New Year Celebration will take place from 4:00-6:30 p.m. Saturday, January 27, in The Gathering Place. Students, MC employees and community members will be treated with performances that include U.S. World Martial Arts Champion Sen Gao, Angolan & Brazilian Martial Arts by Capoeira, Russian music by St. Nicholas Balakaika Orchestra, demonstrations by the Ohio Valley Taekwondo Academy, and Marietta College students.
