BOONE, N.C. – The (RV/18) Florida State cross country teams opened the season by sweeping the Covered Bridge Open, which was held on the Don Kennedy Trails in Boone, N.C., by Appalachian State University The women’s team started the day by winning the 5k with a total of 26 points and the men followed with the victory in the 8k with 36 points. It was the fourth-straight sweep of the event for the Noles. “I was really pleased with both teams,” FSU head coach Bob Braman said. “We have a really tired squad from training, but everyone put on their competitive hats at race time. We’re right where we need to be for this time of year.” The Seminoles were paced by two individual champions. The women’s team was led by redshirt senior Lauren Ryan, who won the 5k with a time of 17:05.35 in her first cross country race since the 2019 NCAA Championships.
