MEN FINISH SECOND, WOMEN FOURTH AT ACC OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP

RALEIGH, N.C.   The ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships came down to the final race to determine both the men’s and women’s champions. Florida State’s men held the slimmest of leads over Clemson with only the 4x400 relay left.  Unfortunately, Head Coach Bob Braman wouldn’t have his normal relay team as injuries suffered during the championship to three of the stalwarts meant FSU’s final race would have just one experienced member on the team. FSU fought, just as they had the entire meet on both the men’s and women’s side, but the fourth place relay finish was not good enough to hold onto the championship trophy and the men finished as ACC runners-up by a single point. The Seminole women also had an outstanding conference championship finishing fourth. “It was just a tremendous ACC Championship, one of the best ever,” said Braman.  “I am so proud of both our teams.  We fought so hard and overcame some really tough breaks with the injuries, but I can’t

Track & Field Headed To Raleigh N.C. For ACC Championships

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.  -  Florida State’s track and field program pulled off an upset last year at the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships and they are hoping for the same kind of performance this year at the conference championships being held at NC State Thursday-Saturday. “We were picked to finish third in the league on the men’s side last year and fifth on the women’s,” said Head Coach Bob Braman who leads all active ACC coaches with 12 men’s outdoor championships and five women’s titles.  “We ended up winning the men’s championship by the largest scoring margin in ACC history and the women were only nine points shy of a title of their own. “This feels like a similar scenario, but it would be very difficult to have as monstrous a meet as we had last year,” Braman said. The Seminoles will count on their leaders at the always-challenging conference championships and they have been up to the task all season.  Jeremiah Davis, Dajaz DeFrand, Amir Wil

SEMINOLES SHINE ON FIRST DAY OF FSU RELAYS

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State’s annual FSU Relays kicked off Thursday at Mike Long Track in Tallahassee, Fla.  With the majority of the events set for Friday, the Seminole men’s and women’s teams will go into the final day in fine shape. Senior Amani Heaven was FSU’s top finisher winning the women’s shot put with a throw of 16.84 meters.  A second team All-America in the event at the 2022 NCAA Championships as a junior, Heaven finished second in the shot put at the ACC Indoor Championships last month.  Her winning throw was a personal best. A trio of Seminoles finished second in their Thursday events.  Tallahassee native Curtis William’s 7.59 meter long jump was second best in the men’s field and junior Faith Banks was runner-up in the women’s 200 meters with a personal best time of 23.60.  Riley Bahr was second in the 5,000 meters at 17:13.01.
