Charity picked up more than 4 thousand toys this morning. 3 3 3 and tonight. Those 4 thousand toys joined the thousands of others collected during this years toys for Tots Campaign as volunteers began sorting through them. Theyre hoping to complete that task by the end of this weekend. So that they can be organized and distributed to kids in need here in siouxland this coming week leading up to Christmas Day next friday. 3 the amount of toys is just phenomenal this year. WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) New funds donated to the West Terre Haute Police Department will help them add to their k-9 unit.
Tuesday Sugar Creek Scrap in West Terre Haute gave the department a $1,000 check.
The money was raised from their first ever ‘Cars and Coffee’ event held last month.
Police Chief William Bark says, it’s reassuring to see the community give back to officers.
“Sugar Creek Scrap has been really good to us in the past. There’s been some issues here with thieving, we’ve got to know a lot of the people down here and it’s just a lot of good people and they’re just showing it even more,” police chief William Bark said. “It is sometimes surprising and very reassuring to know that the community has our backs. We don’t always see that because most of the time when we’re dealing with the public, it’s an emergency situation or it’s a situation that the person does not want to be

WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A local business hopes to bring people together while supporting law enforcement.
Sugar Creek Scrap will host its first annual Cars and Coffee event benefitting the West Terre Haute Police Department.
The event will take place on June 5 from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
It will feature a car show, coffee and donuts to enjoy, as well as raffles. The cost to show a car at the event is $20. It costs $5 to attend.
General Manager Matthew Hagedorn says it will be a fun way to give back to the community.
