EU Digital Agriculture Needs Clear Socio-Ecological Directions | Agricultural and Rural Convention

To set clear directions for responsible digitalisation in agriculture, the CAP and the Farm-to-Fork Strategy should integrate a new policy target aimed at substantially increasing the current low share of EU farmers engaged in other gainful activities connected to the farm to at least 25% by 2030. Rural Resilience | Diary from the Ground - Spring 2023 | Agricultural and Rural Convention

In the first few months of the year, the Rural Resilience project has been busy attending events to maintain ties with existing partners and grow new connections, around issues making sense on both sides of the Rhine. Through the lens of multi-tiered rural policies, we are working with actors in territories across Europe to bring forward reality-based proposals, rooted in actions that are already underway on the ground. In the first phase of the Rural Resilience project, we connected with people all over France who are engaged in experiments in socio-ecological transition. In 2023-2024, the project zooms out from France to take in the wider Europe, with a special focus on Germany (the other big country in Europe). France | Pesticides, PDOs & Plenty of Spin at Salon de l Agriculture 2023 | Agricultural and Rural Convention

Running since 1964, the Salon International de l’Agriculture in Paris is a microcosm of the knotted landscape around French agriculture. Visiting it for one day gives just a flavour of the much larger diversity, longer history, and deeper issues of this sector so important for French identities in France and Europe. We visited the 2023 opening day, curious to meet people, understand what is exhibited and what is not, and how. Here are our main takeaways. Photo reportage by Matteo Metta.
