Enough to fight fire at night. Over time well have the capability of operating those with night vision goggles at night on fires. Reporter the chopper can drop more than three times the amount of water than the old fleet. The cal fire hawk features a retractable snorkel capable of sucking up a thousand gallons of water in just 45 seconds. Hopefully with the speed involved they will be getting more water to the fire quicker to support those crews. They have a hoist. Reporter the Current Fleet of vintage is more than five decades old. They were used originally in vietnam. Reporter the upgrade is badly needed but it is not just the chopper fleet getting a boost. Seven c130s are also in the pipeline. The f w dp four times more retardant and utilize a bigger crew. Firefighters hope the new aircraft will help them knock more fires down quickly. And save lives. I dont think this has ever happened in arenda, anything like this at all. Reporter the arenda city council wants to do everything it can to make sure nothing like it ever happens again. Theyre considering ways to crack down on Short Term Rentals including possibly banning them entirely. What weve tried to do is give the counsel as many options that we think are reasonable. City staff says requiring hostonly rentals where the owner is present and special permits are also possibilities.
