work the secure a tighter fitting cap over the leake riser. once in place, a series of tests will begin. what they re going to do is close the valves and try to create pressure. reporter: if that pressure rises, that means the cap is stopping all of the oil. lower pressure readings could mean there are other leaks in the well. and if that s the case, team will have to add another cap to the current stack. i think we ll know substantially more than we have in the spire event to date once we get that cap. on we re able to do the well integrity test. as the president s commission investigating the spill open hearing today in new orleans, bp officials confirm the permanent fix, a relief well, is still weeks away. we re going to drill another 40 or 50 feet. and we will have positioned ourselves essentially five feet away from the well and we ll be lined up. when we drill another within hundred feet, we will expect the well. and eventually push in mud and cement to try
