Tigers Top SMU, 5-2 to Secure Weekend Sweep at Home

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson Tigers add on to their undefeated home-streak as they run past SMU, 5-2 to secure their third victory of the weekend. The duo of Max Damm and Wissam Abderrahman clinched the doubles point for the Tigers as Ryuhei Azuma secured the overall victory for Clemson in singles.  Clemson 5, SMU 2 The Tigers brought the energy early in doubles as they were leading on all courts to start. The Mustangs took the first doubles victory of the match but Clemson was able to answer back as the freshman duo of Marko Mesarovic and Stewart Aronson recorded a win 6-3 against Maks Silagy and Julian Steinhausen.  With the doubles tied 1-1, it was left to the duo of Damm and Abderrahan to get it done and secure the doubles point for Clemson. Tigers Fall to No. 16 Michigan State, Mesarovic Picks Up Singles Victory

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Freshman Marko Mesarovic picked up a three-set singles victory, but Clemson fell to the 16th ranked Michigan State Spartans 6-1 in East Lansing. The Tigers (2-3) are one of six teams to secure a point against the Spartans (9-0) this season. Credit to Michigan State for playing well and mature today when it mattered. COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Clemson Men’s Tennis team went toe-to-toe against the nation’s second-ranked team but ultimately fell in a narrow 4-2 decision in the ITA Kickoff Weekend opener against South Carolina (2-0) in the Palmetto Series Presented by SC Education Lottery. The Tigers (2-1) claimed the doubles point decisively and battled closely in singles, but ultimately could not hold on to pull the upset in the 115th all-time meeting between the programs.  “I was glad to see our guys come out the right way in doubles today and it paid off,” said Head Coach Brandon Wagner, coaching in his first rivalry match. “We knew it was going to be a battle no matter what - and it was. Aronson, Mesarovic Named Doubles Team of the Week

CLEMSON, S.C. – After competing in their first set of matches for the Tigers this past Saturday, freshmen Stewart Aronson and Marko Mesarovic have been named the Doubles Team of the week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. In the season opening doubleheader, the doubles duo of Aronson and Mesarovic helped Clemson clinch the doubles point against both Brown and The Citadel as the pairing were the first to finish in both matches. Against Brown, Aronson and Mesarovic defeated Brown’s Alex Koong and Brian Chong 6-1, at the No. 3 doubles position for Clemson.
