More math from Milne: FY 22 budget forecasts
A level-service budget is a positive thing, say Milne, Levesque, Ells
Bronwen Howells Walsh
In a joint meeting last night, Barnstable Finance Director Mark Milne was scheduled to take center stage, presenting the town s post-COVID financial status to the Town Council and School Committee. You ll hear two different terms used, Council President Matt Levesque said Wednesday by phone: level-funded and level-service. With level-funded, town departments would get the same amount of money as last year. With level-service – which is what Milne is recommending – you can do the same thing as last year with increased budget, including raises and cost of living increases.which is a good thing, Levesque said. We will be able to offer the same services knowing that the budgets and costs are going to go up, but we re in a place where we can do that. That s a positive thing.
