Man tried to grab trooper’s gun after wrong-way chase on Pa. Turnpike: police

A Philadelphia man is charged with attempted homicide after police say he tried to grab the gun of a trooper who had stopped him after a wrong-way chase the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Cumberland County.
Mark Anthony Davenport, 31, was driving a white Honda Civic, going 90 mph in a 70 mph zone, around 10:50 a.m. Thursday, according to police. He was also driving east in the westbound lanes, according to Trooper Megan Ammerman.
When police tried to initiate a traffic stop, the Civic sped away and was weaving in and out of oncoming traffic before crashing off the road into a field, police said. The crash occurred at mile marker 210.1 in Upper Mifflin Township.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. A Philadelphia man is facing attempted homicide and a slew of other charges after state police police say he tried to take a trooper s gun and point it at his head, after leading police on a high speed pursuit.
The incident happened just before 11 a.m. on Thursday, when troopers initiated a traffic stop on a sedan travelling 90 miles-per-hour in a 70 miles-per-hour zone on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
According to state police, the driver of the sedan, identified as Mark Anthony Davenport, 31, of Philadelphia, lead troopers on a high speed chase, before he crashed into a field.
