STEUBENVILLE A city resident is in custody after he allegedly attempted to carry a gun into the Jefferson County Justice Center Tuesday for a custody hearing.
Norman DeJuan Brown, 42, of 361 Summit Ave. was arrested Tuesday as he arrived in court for a child custody hearing. He has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon, violating a protection order, conveying a prohibited item into a government facility and having a weapon under disability, deputies said.
The protection order had been issued to the child’s mother, who was at the hearing.
The gun, a .32 caliber pistol, was discovered inside a black leather bag when it went through the scanner in the justice center lobby. Deputies said the gun was loaded, and two other bullets were found in the bag.
