Town fans left Portman Road angry and depressed once again as Gillingham took three points back to Kent. A Mamady Sidibe goal in the first half, again after Town had failed to defend a corner, was enough to take Andy Hessenthaler s side to victory.
Town will know on Sunday afternoon whether Darren Bent and Darren Ambrose will be called up for the England U21 match with Portugal in Rio Major on March 28th. If they are both included then Town s match with Gillingham the day after will be postponed.
Brighton striker Bobby Zamora is set to miss his side s clash with Town at Portman Road on Saturday. Zamora limped out of last night s game at Sheffield United with a pulled hamstring.
Town s two-match away winning run came to an end as Liam Lawrence s fine 25-yard strike gave Stoke a 1-0 victory at the Britannia Stadium. The Blues were the better side before the break but fell away in a second half in which Jim Magilton was sent to the stand.
Stoke came from two goals behind to deny the Blues their first victory of 2006. Town had gone ahead through Jason De Vos and Fabian Wilnis inside the first 18 minutes but the Potters hit back with a goal in each half from Darel Russell and Mamady Sidibe.
