to assume that there will be some kind of after-action assessment on this response? as we, sadly, know this is leekly to happen again in the future? well, there s no question about that. there will be an after-action. any time you have an event like this, you learn from what you did well, what you could have done better. and that s not just police, that s going to be the trauma centers, and others that will take a look at their response and so forth, because the reality is, you hope it doesn t happen, but you know, odds are, you re going to be continue fronted with something like that again. and that information is shared with other law enforcement age agencies. we all learn from these things. so, there will be an after-action. the other thing, just to add what steve was saying earlier, this is going to go well into the evening. there will be a portion of the mall that will be closed off tomorrow. i don t know how broad an area,
law enforcement confirms the shooter is dead. they also say that nine victims have been transported to medical facilities, though they have not given any numbers as they relate to fatalities. they also say they don t know if there are additional victims who may have been transported by private vehicles. we have also learned that among the victims are people aged 5 all the way to age 61. local congressman said at this point, there is no known motive for the shooting. now, i want to get to camila, with now sound from the scene. hey, paula, yeah, as time goes on, we start to hear more and more from people who were there on a saturday at the mall. so many of us have relate to being at an outlet mall or any other mall on a saturday afternoon, it happened at 3:36 p.m., so, of course, you re hearing from more and more people about what they went through and how traumatic this
because we don t know yet where victims were located, which stores were impacted, but there will be some that will be shut down for a period of time. again, you ve got a crime scene being processed. they will be very meticulous, going through that, and ga gathering evidence. and even though the shooter is deceased, you still want to do a thorough, complete job. did i hear you, though, suggest that part of this mall could possibly reopen tomorrow? you think that s possible? it s a possibility. i don t know how broad a crime scene you have. but the area that s been impacted will definitely be shut down. but that s a very, very large mall, they may whoever runs that may may decide to keep the entire thing shut down tomorrow. that s very, very possible, so, this is going to last for a period of time, that was your question, how long do you think this is going to last it certainly is going to last for a period of time, beyond just what
so, we had heard from our colleague john miller and his law enforcement sources that this shooter was wearing tactical gear. they have identified his car somewhere in the mall, and there was a bomb squad, as well, looking at the car. again, we re waiting for details from the allen police department, but they re trying to piece everything together, which includes a lot of the witness testimony. they have been speaking out and saying that they ve seen the shooter and the victims. of course, a traumatic experience for a lot of these witnesses, but i want you to take a listen to what a lot of them are saying and describing. loud banging, like, a couple of them and we thought something fell down outside of the store. so, i went to go check it out and it just kept happening. saw them bouncing off the bricks outside. what store was that? escrow sneakers. what happened after that?
circles of impact on american society that we that we don t measure, and that s sort of where we are right now. that s an excellent point so many of the eyewitness accounts we ve seen from our affiliate were younger people. people who appear to be teenagers or in their early 20s. i want to bring in steve moore now. steve, when it comes to the law enforcement response tonight and tomorrow, is the crime scene still the mall? what will be their focus over the next 24, 48 hours? well, obviously, technically, the crime scene is at the mall, but what the investigators are looking for, most of it isn t at the crime scene at this point. the major law enforcement attack at this point is going to be learning about this shooter. where was he? how did he get his weapons? what were his motivations?
