The kidnapped schoolgirls of the Government Secondary School in Jangebe, Zamfara State, have reportedly regained their freedom.
While Channels Television gathered on Sunday that the students have regained their freedom, the state government and other officials are, however, yet to confirm this or provide any details.
As of Friday evening, seven out of the 317 abducted female students were said to have escaped.
A source who spoke with Channels Television from Jangebe town via a phone call confirmed that the seven girls returned home on their own as they claimed they manoeuvred their way back from the bandits while trekking along the forest.

ANGRY residents of Jangebe in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State where 317 schoolgirls were kidnapped on Friday took to the streets and attacked all vehicles that passed through the village.
The villagers, including women and children, stormed the streets and used sticks and stones in carrying out their attacks.
The government and police authorities in the state confirmed the abduction of the students of the Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS).
The abducted female students were taken to an unknown destination by armed gunmen who invaded the school in the early hours of Friday.
Two vehicles conveying newsmen from various media organisations were among vehicles that were attacked by the angry residents.
Nationwide outrage has greeted yesterday’s abduction of more than 300 school girls of Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe in Talata-Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara state by bandits even as aggrieved residents of the community took to the streets destroying vehicles entering the village in protest.

The charge of assault was initially brought against the police officer by Chief Jelili Adegoke Raheem.
This followed an amicable settlement between the petitioner and the respondent prior to the next adjourned date of the case.
DAILY POST recalls that the petitioner, Chief Jelili Adegoke Raheem, had reported that he was beaten to pulp by one Superintendent Ezekiel Dayo, a police officer serving in the State, on the 2nd of October, 2020, around 10:00pm when he was exiting a motor-park at Oke-Baale, Osogbo.
The petitioner reported that the incident landed him in the hospital, and that he lost the sum of N100, 000 kept in his vehicle during the incident.
