“There are governments that work with the speed of light and there are others that work at the speed of snail. Our government is like snail, and that is what is killing us. The response is not an issue of being positive or negative; it should be fast.”
Those were the assertion of prominent northern Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi in reaction to efforts of governments at all levels to end banditry and other security challenges in the country.

ANGRY residents of Jangebe in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State where 317 schoolgirls were kidnapped on Friday took to the streets and attacked all vehicles that passed through the village.
The villagers, including women and children, stormed the streets and used sticks and stones in carrying out their attacks.
The government and police authorities in the state confirmed the abduction of the students of the Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS).
The abducted female students were taken to an unknown destination by armed gunmen who invaded the school in the early hours of Friday.
Two vehicles conveying newsmen from various media organisations were among vehicles that were attacked by the angry residents.

Bandits on Friday morning attacked Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe, Talata Mafara local Government Area of Zamfara State and abducted many students.
Report from Zamfara state said over 300 school girls were abducted.
According to BBC Hausa Service, the bandits attacked the secondary school in Talatar Mafara local government in the early hours of Friday.
The father of one of the abducted girls, who was identified as Alhaji Bello Maikusa Jangebe, said an unpleasant sound of guns had woken up the entire people in the town at around 1:30am Friday.
“We thought they had come to attack residents as they usually do, unfortunately, this time around, they aimed at the students and abducted about 327 of them, later we noticed that only a few of the students were left behind”, Maikusa narrated.
