Aisha, wife of President Muhammadu Buhari and Nuhu Ribadu, a former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) are among the All Progressives Congress power brokers who influenced the removal of the state chairman of the party in Adamawa, Ibrahim Bilal. SaharaReporters learnt on Monday that following his defeat at the APC governorship primary election in Adamawa, Ribadu, backed by Aisha Bubari, moved to remove Bilal as the state party chairman.

There appears to be a consensus among political pundits that the rancorous primary election conducted by the Adams Oshiomhole-led National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress, prior to 2019 general elections, played a key role in the party’s loss of several states including Adamawa.
APC leaders in the state who had scores to settle with the former governor, Jibrilla Bindow, tried but failed to convince the party’s national leadership not to field the then incumbent governor.
