Citing the Uttar Pradesh Urban Planning and Development Act. 1973 and UP Parks & Playground Act, 1975, Tyagi said: “It is violative of Section 13 of the Uttar Pradesh Urban Planning and Development Act, 1973, as the construction on an area reserved for park alters and destroys the area.” “The power to alter the land use pattern of the park rests with GDA, and without its approval, it cannot be done. So, we have written to the authority saying GMC is the maintenance agency and it cannot carry out the project,” added Tyagi.
