The Police have revealed that the address given by the patient when he was admitted to the hospital was also a fake.
Although he had given an address in the Maradana area, it has been revealed that he is a resident of the Grandpass area.
Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said it has been revealed that this person is a drug addict.

A 43-year-old COVID-19 patient from Grandpass escaped from the National Hospital for Respiratory Diseases, Welisara last evening and an operation has been launched to apprehend him, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
He said the patient had provided a fake address to the authorities when he was admitted to hospital, as if he was a resident of Maradana.
It was revealed that the suspect is a drug addict and the Mahabage Police are conducting an investigation to net the suspect.
The spokesman said that a total of six Covid-19 patients who were treated at hospitals have escaped up to now. All the escapee were identified as drug addicted, he further said.

Over 600 persons tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, bringing the triple cluster that emerged from Divulapitiya, Peliyagoda and Prisons to 31,070 patients.
The Department of Government Information stated that 560 associates of the Peliygaoda COVID-19 cluster and 51 persons linked to the Prisons cluster are among the 611 patients detected yesterday.
The total count of COVID-19 patients in Sri Lanka is 34,732.
According to the Epidemiology Unit, the total number of COVID-19 patients detected in the island also includes 1,623 Sri Lankan overseas arrivals and 126 foreigners in terms of imported cases and 950 Navy personnel and their contacts and 651 persons linked to the Kandakadu cluster among the local cases.

COLOMBO (News 1st): A 43-year-old COVID-19 patient who was receiving treatment at the National Hospital for Respiratory Diseases, in Welisara has left the hospital without authorization, Sri Lanka Police said on Wednesday (Dec. 16).
A special operation is underway to locate him, Police Spokesperson – DIG Ajith Rohana said.
The patient has given an address in Maradana at the time of admission, which turned out to be fake, DIG Ajith Rohana noted.
According to Police, information has come to light he is a resident of the Grandpass area and the Mahabage Police are currently conducting investigations in co-ordination with other police stations, to locate the patient.
