The figure is the lowest number of cases reported for any one day since four cases were reported on June 22. Additionally, the MCHD reported 556 tests on Sunday and 12 COVID-19 patients in Madison County hospitals, two on ventilators. On Monday the Illinois Department of Public Health reported 196,744 COVID-19 vaccinations so far in the county. IDPH officials said 96,475 county residents or 36.48% of the county’s population are now fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

The board voted 7-0 Wednesday after receiving guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health and is subject to “favorable public health conditions.” The resolution states that all schools must resume fully in-person learning for all student attendance days, provided that remote instruction be made available for students who are not eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine and are under quarantine order by a local health department or IDPH.
