Just 8 COVID cases reported Sunday in county

WOOD RIVER — Only eight new confirmed or probable COVID-19 cases were reported Sunday by the Madison County Health Department.
The figure is the lowest number of cases reported for any one day since four cases were reported on June 22.
Additionally, the MCHD reported 556 tests on Sunday and 12 COVID-19 patients in Madison County hospitals, two on ventilators.
On Monday the Illinois Department of Public Health reported 196,744 COVID-19 vaccinations so far in the county. IDPH officials said 96,475 county residents — or 36.48% of the county’s population — are now fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
